WAVE (Women for American Values and Ethics) is pleased to announce a grant award from Charitable Ventures OC totaling $25,000. This grant will be used to conduct a Census 2020 Outreach and Engagement Plan in South Orange County.
In December of last year, WAVE submitted a proposal to seek private funding for census outreach activities in South Orange County, primarily in San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, and Dana Point. Other cities to be reached are Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, Laguna Woods, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach. Our goal is to work closely with partner organizations and through our Migrant Rights and Government Integrity Working Action Groups in order to achieve a fair and accurate count among the hard-to-count (HTC) populations in South OC. Our proposed workplan aims to target the following HTC groups: Immigrants and refugees; people with limited English proficiency; and, the LatinX population. We would also like to reach children ages 0-5, as well as seniors/older adults. The implementation period of our plan runs from February through July, with peak activities running from March to May.
If you and your organization want to partner with WAVE and are interested in obtaining a mini grant for your own census outreach activities, please email ali@wave4all.org or GoodGovernment@wave4all.org.
