We are excited to report that Orange County’s election results have been certified! While this election cycle has been a whirlwind and a roller coaster, WAVE is confident in a progressive future for our country. With President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris at the helm, and a plethora of state and local leaders emerging, we know we are on our way to a brighter day for America. (And we still have a chance to flip the Senate with Georgia!)

Let’s take a look at what your support achieved in numbers:

  • We endorsed 51 candidates at all levels of government, from U.S. President to city water board.

  • We contributed more than $110,000 directly to their campaigns.

  • We raised more than $500,000 to support our PAC for the 2020 election cycle.

  • We shared our Voter Guide with over 2,500 people through emails, social media, ballot parties, and our website.
  • We hosted 57 events to keep our members and the community informed about candidates and issues, attended by over 2,300 people.
  • Our Motivate platform was accessed by over 100 members.
  • We hosted 2 Spanish language ballot parties, 1 Next WAVE ballot party for students and young professionals, and 6 English language ballot parties, educating hundreds voters so they felt comfortable voting the WHOLE ballot.
  • Traffic to the WAVE Elections page reached 1,979 page views with an average visit of 2:40 minutes.
  • Our digital ads were seen 2,595,000 times with geo-targeted candidate persuasion and voter education information.
  • Users engaged with our digital ads 54,569 times.
  • We sent 141,390 emails to our members to keep them engaged and educated from the primary through the general election.
  • Traffic to the WAVE Elections page reached 1,979 page views with an average visit of 2:40 minutes.
  • We wrote more than 32,500 letters to voters in swing states who would have been unlikely to vote in the election without some form of personalized voter contact.
  • We started text conversations with 65,130 voters in key races to make sure voters had information to cast their ballots.

  • We launched a direct mail campaign of 117,864 pieces to targeted voters in the 48th district, highlighting Rep. Rouda’s stellar congressional track record and OC Register endorsement.

Once again, thank you. Today, we can celebrate that 80 million Americans sided with decency, hope, and truth. While there is work to be done (we’re looking at you, 39th and 48th districts!), I think it’s incredibly important to celebrate our historic victories. We helped to restore decency, sanity, and respect to the White House. And we could not have done it without YOU.
