Giving Effective Public Remarks at City Council Meetings
Did you know that anyone can request to speak at a City Council meeting in California, on any topic relevant to that city? This is a great way to advocate for local environmental policy like climate action and community choice energy. Since you are speaking directly to City Council Members, you know you will be heard. Your public remarks are limited to three minutes each. Be sure to make the most of your time!
In this workshop, you can learn how to give an effective three-minute pitch to advocate for your cause. Bri McWhorter of Activate to Captivate is a public speaking coach who specializes in this format. She’ll lead us through this process, so you can feel ready for the next City Council meeting.
