Since his first term in Congress began in January 2019, Rep. Levin has established himself as a leader on climate action and clean energy, serving on the House Natural Resources Committee and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. He introduced legislation to transition the nation to zero-emission vehicles, expand renewable energy development, and prevent future offshore oil drilling. Rep. Levin also serves on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and leads the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.

Jay Chen is the President of the Board of Trustees for Mt. San Antonio Community College, a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves, and a small business owner. As part of Operation Inherent Resolve, Lieutenant Commander (res.) Chen led an intelligence team and helped bring justice to the terror group ISIS, and he played a key role in the military’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Middle East. In Congress, Jay will work to restore integrity and accountability in Washington DC.
Dr. Asif Mahmood is a pulmonologist and doctor of internal medicine. In addition to his work as a physician, Asif has been a leader in nonprofit and philanthropic organizations across Southern California. He has played leading roles in philanthropic efforts for nonprofit organizations like UNICEF and volunteers at a free clinic. He serves on the California Medical Board and on the board of the Valley Rescue Mission, the largest homeless shelter in Southern California.

Funds raised from this event will go towards effecting change at the
levels where we currently need them the most — in Congress and at the state and county levels.
More than 1,000 donors contributed over $500,000 to support WAVE-endorsed candidates in the 2020 election cycle.
From our initial group, WAVE has grown into a strong force of more than 2,300 people: a powerhouse of political activists; a breeding ground for citizen-advocates; a network of community partners and organizers; a collaborative of donors; and a political home for leaders and thinkers.
We endorsed in 52 races in the 2020 election cycle, with an average win rate of 71%. Our endorsed candidates are diverse and include 65% women and 42% BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color).
WAVE provided significant grassroots support to our endorsed candidates through letter writing, phone banking, postcarding, voter education, ballot parties, and other campaign-support efforts. Our members volunteered more than 15,000 hours in the 2020 election cycle.
We held 57 education and outreach events to educate voters so they could vote the whole ballot.
