Rally for Science

  • Fullerton City Hall 303 West Commonwealth Avenue Fullerton, CA, 92832 United States (map)

RALLY PARKING: Please do not park in the Fullerton Library or Fullerton Community Center lots! If you arrive early enough you can park in the City Hall parking lot (entrance on Amerige Ave just west of Highland) or in the City Hall Employees parking lot just across Amerige from City Hall. There also is some on-street parking on Amerige behind City Hall. Additional parking is available in the two city lots on Amerige just west of Harbor Blvd. Just walk west on Amerige from these lots two blocks to City Hall. More parking is available in the city parking structure on Santa Fe Avenue just west of Harbor Blvd. From this parking structure walk west about a block to Highland Ave, then north on Highland one block. City Hall will be on your left. A map of downtown parking is available at  http://csuerfa.org/pdf/Parking.pdf

PUBLIC TRANSIT OPTIONS: The Fullerton Train Station is served by Amtrak and Metrolink and is within walking distance of City Hall. The #26 OCTA bus line has a stop at City Hall, and is convenient for those living near CSUF or in West Fullerton. Any of the bus lines that stop at the Fullerton Transportation Center near the Train Station will get you within a five block walk to the rally site.

This is a family-friendly event to support evidence-based science. This is a follow-up to our successful Fullerton March for Science last year, which drew nearly 2,000 participants. It also is a satellite event to the world-wide March for Science taking place on April 14, 2018.

The event will include a rally, a series of short speeches, and a sidewalk march around the super-block where Fullerton City Hall and the Fullerton Library are located. Bring your voices, signs, posters, and banners.

Sidewalk march route: March facing traffic for safety, and so that your signs and banners can be seen by passing traffic - east on Commonwealth to Highland, north on Highland to Amerige, west on Amerige to Library Lane, south on Library Lane to Commonwealth - repeat!

Confirmed speakers include Jessica Dawn Pratt, Professor of Biology: chemist and former Congressional candidate Phil Janowicz, Fullerton Council-member Jesus Silva, State Senator Josh Newman, Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva, former State Senator Joe Dunn, among others. Willie Holmes will be our Master of Ceremonies, and his sister will lead us in the national anthem.

The event is fully permitted and insured.

(Note that the Faces of Fullerton event will be running from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Plaza on Wilshire on the same day as our event, so we are keeping our activities at or near City Hall so as not to interfere. Also Rally participants are encouraged to check out Faces of Fullerton after our event ends.)
