WAVE is honored to welcome comedian, TV host, writer, and activist Chelsea Handler and Congressmembers Karen Bass and Ted Lieu to Orange County to our SOLD OUT event, Make Waves with Chelsea Handler.
"Like so many across the country, the presidential election and the countless events that have unfolded since have galvanized me. From the national level down to the grassroots, it's clear our decisions at the ballot box will mark a defining moment for our nation," Handler wrote on Twitter. "My goal is to be better informed, raise my voice, and participate in a more meaningful way. I want to travel the country and visit areas and people I don't know enough about and gain a better understanding."
Congresswoman Karen Bass was re-elected to her fourth term representing the 37th Congressional District in November 2016. Prior to serving in Congress, Representative Bass made history as the first African American woman to serve as Speaker of the California Assembly.Congresswoman Bass serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs where she is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Africa. Congresswoman Bass also serves as Second Vice-Chair for the Congressional Black Caucus.
Congressmember Ted Lieu has been the U.S. Representative for the 33rd Congressional District of California since 2015. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and is an Assistant Whip for the Democratic Caucus, as well as a former active duty officer in the US Air Force and a Colonel in the Reserves. In Congress, Representative Lieu has established himself as a leader on protecting the environment; Social Security and Medicare; civil liberties; and veterans. He is also an outspoken critic of President Trump.

With the funds raised, WAVE will register new voters, conduct outreach to immigrant and student communities, develop voter education materials, and mobilize voters in our four targeted congressional districts within Orange County. The current representatives do not support progressive American values and ethics, and consistently vote against protecting the environment, civil rights for immigrants and the LGBTQ community, women’s issues, and gun safety.
