WAVE General Meeting

Because of the need for immediate action on the family separation issue, we will dedicate our usual "social/dinner" time at the General Meeting Thursday, June 21 to a "working dinner seminar" on ways to combat this egregious policy. If possible, please arrive promptly at 7pm so we can get started learning how WAVE can make an impact.

The second half of our meeting will be very exciting -- "How to run for something!" We have amassed a panel of progressive female city council candidates to discuss the specifics of running for office, and the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) will be here to explain how to get elected as a delegate and/or become a member of the DPOC Central Committee. The city council candidates will provide tangible information about local elections, such as how much funding you need, the real time commitment involved, training opportunities to help you prepare to run, and/or how you can best support friends who may be running. We are pleased to have the following amazing progressive candidates on our panel: Tiffany Ackley (Aliso Viejo), Farrah Khan (Irvine), Lauren Johnson-Norris (Irvine), Arlis Reynolds (Costa Mesa), and Beatriz "Betty" Valencia (Orange). Fran Sdao and key DPOC staff will explain the delegate and Central Committee election processes.

General Meeting -- Thursday, June 21st, 7:00pm-9:00pm
